D&D MORDENKAN’S TOME OF FOES – An Honest Review
D&D MORDENKAINEN’S TOME OF FOES is the twelfth installment of the D&D Monster Manual, written by Sage Greengrass. In this book, the PCs are presented with a task beyond what they’ve been given during previous editions. In fact, if you’ve been playing D&D since the first edition (now updated through 5E), you’re probably wondering what new options you can have your party undertake. Fortunately, this book actually introduces a lot of new options that help make D&D even more fun and challenging for both experienced and new players.
This book is not a walkthrough of the game. Although it does include several short “hits” along the way (which reinforce certain concepts and areas of gameplay), much of the content is delivered via a series of adventures that the DM can modify based on the party’s situation. Instead of being a book about navigating a randomly generated environment, D&D MORDENKAN’S TOME OF FOES provides a more traditional role playing experience, following the established conventions of classic D&D games. The most obvious change is the fact that the PCs aren’t fighting dragons anymore but instead exploring the mystical lands of Middle Earth.
If you want to get a quick and relatively easy introduction to D&D with solid rules and guidelines, then this PDF is a great option. Even if you’ve been playing for many years, it’s worth taking a look at this new version just to get a feel for how things have changed, especially with the new edition of D&D coming out later this year. Whether you want to play elemental creatures or non-elemental ones, there are new classes to add to your game, new races to play, and plenty of adventures to enjoy.
